L-Art Gallery is proud to present “Zhang Ya: Impression,” the first exhibition of the year, on March 12th. The exhibition attempts to trace the changes in Zhang Ya’s art practices over the past three years through her works in four different series: “A Strange Utopia,” “Impression,” “Remember and Record,” and “Sunday.” At her first exhibition, the artist employed geometrical figures to represent traditional garden landscape and her imagining of a secret utopia, while she extracted these geometrical shapes and laid them over receipts and newspapers at her second exhibition. The metamorphosis of her artistic language discloses a concurrent conceptual transition, but what remains untouched throughout the years is her exploration and persistent inquiries into space and the everyday experience of the urban condition.
